Disability theology is a small field which, over the past thirty years, has grown to address the spiritual and religious lives of Disabled people, and the ways in which Disability shapes wider Christian understandings of the body and human nature. In this presentation, Rev Dr Leonard Curry and Dr Devan Stahl discuss how and why disability theology began, common issues in themes in the field, how disability theology intersects with other liberation theologies, and how it can challenge our church practices as well as our imaginations.
Dr Devan Stahl is an Assistant Professor of Religion at Baylor University in Waco, Texas. Her teaching and research focus on theological bioethics and disability theology.Devan is also a certified clinical ethicist consultant for Baylor Scott and White Health and she hosts the popular podcast Bioethics For the People.
