Adrian Porter was born and grew up in Bristol. He joined the Society of Jesus (Jesuits) in 1978 and completed studies in theology at Heythrop College, London (1980-83), philosophy, politics and economics at Oxford University (1985-87), and teacher training at Liverpool Hope University (1987-88). He was ordained priest in 1988. He has taught at Marquette University High School (USA, 1983-85) and St Ignatius College (London, 1988-94) and was Head Master of St Aloysius College (Glasgow, 1995-2004) and Wimbledon College (2004-2011). He is currently the Provincial Delegate for Education, responsible for supporting the Jesuit identity and mission of the eleven Jesuit schools in the UK and also working collaboratively to develop the identity and mission of Jesuit schools in Europe. He also works with state and independent schools of other religious congregations and in dioceses. He is also Director of the London Jesuit Centre: a centre for teaching and reflection in theology, spirituality and social & environmental justice.
