The Cana Room is a relaxing lounge with five bistro tables and a kitchen. It also has its own toilets one of which is wheelchair accessible. It has a large 85" screen. It is generally open to anyone using the centre for relaxation. But at quiet times it may be hired.

Arrupe Hall

The Arrupe Hall is a large hall which can be arranged lecture-hall style or in other formats (tables are available for group layout). It has a large-screen TV and sound system. The Arrupe Hall is accessible directly and independently from the LJC ground floor entrance hall.

Aula Magna

Meeting Rooms

The Aula Magna (Great Hall) is a large lecture hall with a small stage area, equipped with a sound system (six wireless microphones) and a large video wall (110”). Adjacent to the Aula is a food preparation room for simple catering. There is a good II/P digital organ and a Clavinova piano for musical events. The Aula Magna is on the second floor and has its own staircase access.

Bookings

We welcome groups and organisations who share our values and mission to use our facilities. To book:
- Please enquire, by filling out the event enquiry form below, if the room that you want to hire is available on the dates/time you need. We do not accept Sunday bookings.
- In the form, you also need to tell us a little of what sort of event it is. Please note we do not rent our venue for wedding, private parties.
- We will respond by email to let you know if the booking is possible or not. If it is possible, we will send you a booking form.
- You are welcome to visit and view the room from Monday to Friday, 9am - 5pm. Please email to arrange a date and time.
- If you wish to proceed, please return the booking form. We will then confirm your booking and send an invoice.
- Full payment is required upon receipt of the confirmation email.

Martyrs Chapel



The Martyrs Chapel is on the 3rd floor of the London Jesuit Centre and is open to all who come to the London Jesuit Centre. It can be booked by groups for liturgy, prayer or quiet time. We will often be able to provide a priest to celebrate Mass. The capacity is up to 20 people.

We offer residential accommodation to visitors attending our events, courses, retreats, training, visiting speakers or teachers to the LJC, visitors using the Heythrop Library and visiting small faith-based groups.

The London Jesuit Centre has nine en suite 2nd-floor bedrooms for visiting speakers or those travelling from a distance for conferences and events. The charge is £85 per night and includes a simple do-it-yourself breakfast in the Breakfast Room.

Further information

Catering

The LJC does not provide in-house catering, however, we can recommend caterers for your meeting or event. Tea and coffee are provided on request.

Children

The LJC primarily works with adults but accompanied children and small groups of young people are welcome. Please talk to us about your needs.

Church

Next door to the London Jesuit Centre is Farm Street Parish Church, the Jesuit church in central London. If you are planning to include liturgy in your meeting, the church may be available. The St Ignatius Chapel seats 50, while the main church seats approximately 400.

Conference resources

Photocopying, flip charts and pens, sticky walls, and other resources for conferences and meetings are available. Please ask.

Cost & cancellation

Payment upon booking. You can cancel any time up to 14 days before the scheduled date of your event and receive a full refund. The full amount is retained with less than 14 days’ notice.

Disability access

There are five steps from street level into the building. Once inside, two lifts provide access to all floors. There are two disabled toilets, one on the first floor, the other in the Cana Room. It is hoped that after Easter 2024 a lift will be available to the centre.

Gardens

Mount Street Gardens, a small public park, is next door to the LJC. There are plenty of benches on which to sit and meditate or watch the world hurry past. Grosvenor Square and Berkeley Square are 3-minutes walk away. Hyde Park, Green Park and St James Park are 10-minutes walk away.

Insurance

The LJC has £50,000,000 public liability insurance.

Library

The LJC is home to the Heythrop Library, a major theological and philosophical collection. Readership is available for students and scholars. Only about 8,000 books and the latest journal issues can be consulted on site, the other 200,000 volumes are off-site and need to be requested. Speakers & facilitators

Among the LJC team are speakers and facilitators, particularly in theology, spirituality, and social & environmental justice issues. We also have expertise in group work and education (primary, secondary and tertiary). If you think we might be able to help with a speaker or facilitator, please ask.

Toilets

Toilets are located on landings off the main staircase. There is a disabled toilet on the first floor and low ground floor.

Transport

The nearest underground stations are Green Park and Bond Street. Each is about a ten-minute walk away.

WiFi

There is free guest wifi throughout the building.

Terms & conditions

We are a small organisation and so if you bring a group, we depend on you to take some responsibility for facilitating access for your groups, helping to organise refreshments and putting chairs, tables and other equipment away at the end. 

We would usually expect the leader/organiser of a new group to come in some time before and familiarise themselves with the facilities and what is needed of them.  We require that each group/event has a named contact who will be present throughout the day of the event.
